FAQ

What does it cost?

The first video costs $350 + GST. Each additional video from the same event/setup is $250 + GST

What do I get?

You get your final video, mixed audio and up to 3 photos.

What is the event format?

We have two types of events:

Short & Sweet: Each artist will have 20 minutes to set up and record their video. The artists will act as each others’ audience.

Deep Dive: Each artist or group has 1 hour to set up and record, with no audience. Because of the added time, each artist is required to purchase a minimum of 2 videos.

Who will be there during the recording?

In the Short & Sweet event, the artists will act as each others’ audience. All participating artists and the Sask One Mic staff (3-4 of us) will be there for the event. There will be an intermission where artists can arrive or leave as they need.

For the Deep Dive, it is only the artist/group and the SOM staff for the hour.

Why do larger groups have to purchase more than one video?

Because of the longer setup time for a band, it makes much better use of everyone’s time if we can record multiple videos once everyone is ready to play.

How quick is the turnaround time?

We aim to have the audio mixed and videos completed no later than two weeks after the recording.

When and where will the video be released?

All videos will be released on our YouTube page, with a separate playlist for each event. We’ll release a new one each week after the event.

Who owns the final product?

You do!

While we will post every video to our YouTube page as a central hub where someone can find every single SOM video, the video and audio are all yours and you are free to post it anywhere you choose, including sharing to streaming services.

Will there always be tickets available for friends and family to come watch?

Occasionally. Because the Sound Castle is a larger venue with a greater capacity, we were able to do that there. Our regular space has a much lower capacity which doesn’t allow for many spectators after the artists and SOM staff are in the room.
